pleasedon’tfeedmykidsugardotcom is a Toronto-based, online, kids’ boutique that carries a line of T-shirts with slogans to empower parents and in many cases, protect their children.
The world can be a scary place for kids with food allergies and sensitivities. It’s even scarier for the parents. When the teeny-tiniest bit of a particular food can make your kid sick — how can you protect them when you’re not around at day care, birthday parties, play dates or at Grandma’s?
Even the best parents can’t have eyes in the back of their head. Still, life shouldn’t have to be one monotonous string of concern and anxiety, especially when you’ve got access to sassy kiddie tees that convey your concern.
Anyone who walks into a daycare will notice the long and growing list of dietary restrictions for most of the kids in the day care rooms. Not to mention the no-peanut butter rule in all schools and the proliferation of peanut-free food products. The environment is changing and so is the health status of our children.
This line is an expression of my desire as a parent to advocate for children’s health and empower parents to have a voice.
